finally finished the first of 3... learned a lot via this build.
1. the MCW "Menards yellow" goes from neon/fluorescent to bright yellow with clear coat.
2. you CAN cut the rear springs down TOO much, to the point that you really can't lower the front enough to match the back.
3. the black and red stripes run along the top of the door, not the bottom of the top groove (if that makes sense), which is where I put mine... I based that off of how the "Menards" sat on the fender. also realized in the last few days that the "knauf Richmond" decals are on backwards, the little black dots go towards the rear wheel opening.
other than those few things, the build turned out decent IMO. added a splitter and tried to make the grille and window braces on the 3 side windows look like they did at Daytona in February.
on to the pictures!

Most likely the Duracell one, since it was run most recently. Plus the Moen option was more of a pre-season mock up, it hasn’t been run yet.
And the proper car numbers for Duracell are thanks to you. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

You doing a Stoneys sheet or a Powerslide? Imma combine the two.
And if that’s how they are sent, not much you can do about it. I didn’t realize that Stoney didn’t put backing material in his envelopes. That boggles my mind... had SMH do the same thing. Folks need to realize that the postal service isn’t that careful, no matter how many red “do not bend” stamps they hit an envelope with. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

Looks great my friend!!! I've told you that a couple of times now. You know me, I don't give out compliments unless I mean it. Yea, SMH does NOT put backing material with their decals, at least Mike does(Mikes decals). I already have to deal with old Moroso decals, but now I have to deal with bent gold door numbers too. _________________ Would love to have time to finish but I have kids:

i sure do appreciate all the nice comments. hopefully I find the motivation to start the Duracell version... I have it painted. just need a small break for a bit, don't want burnout. too many more kits to build and I ain't getting any younger. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

Hey, sweet looking model. Crazy that the clear did that to the appearance of the color. I honestly don't know how anybody could match that perfectly short of stealing a few ounces from the race shop. |
