Hey y’all, if you looked at my 1988 Earnhardt post in the Showroom, you know that i moved houses this weekend.

My question to everyone is... i am storing my models in my basement. Totally unfinished basement, storing some in a cabinet and some on shelves. The temp has been around 66 degrees and the humidity has been around 65%. Will these circumstances do any damage to the models and/or decals over time? They are all in cardboard model boxes.

Thanks!

Really dont know. I store all mine in those air tight plastic cases you can get at hobby lobby. Lately the company name has changed but the boxes are the same. Also they are stackable. But I dont go over 2 stacked.

Pretty much same - I keep my kits in the garage; but all of my decals are stored in the house. More or less organized; and in airtight containers (some are in a plastic hanging file folder thing; but I think I'm going to switch back to all plastic airtight containers)

The more controlled the environment they are kept in the better as a rule of thumb. Humidity will be the hardest on the decals and heat/cold hardest on the "plastics". Paint is also another consideration, and again controlled temps are best. Depending on your decals, especially the loose ones, I keep mine in a binder in a closet in my living space because its the most controlled. Hope this helps
