... the irascible Billy Hagen had a stable of 1982 Buick Regals driven by Terry Labonte .... The two primary sponsorships were J.D. Stacy and Hagen's own company Stratagraph (an oil well graphing and servicing company) .... the cars ran in 1982 with both chrome and black painted wheels .... below are some examples

Excellent as always, John. Are you still using the testors enamels? Ive heard they are going to be getting scarce. |

As I recall, somewhere in the early 1980's several teams had issues with chrome - plated wheels breaking. NASCAR began requiring that chrome rims be magnafluxed ( or whatever is used to determine brittleness ) and certified before use on NASCAR stock cars. This may be the reason for the change from chrome to painted rims. |

Thanks for the nice words Mark ... greatly appreciated.
Yes, I'm still using Testors and Model Master enamels, but you are right, they are becoming hard to find. Am having to switch to Tamiya lacquers for a couple of my projects. Not really happy with that, but it beats acrylics. _________________ I may have to grow old, but I refuse to grow up |
