|
|
Here are some items that have been patiently waited on. Most of these are in progress photos I took a minute or two ago while trying out some backgrounds. I'll walk you through though.
I'll start with the simpler ones. First up is a simple conversion kit to change Revell's 1969 Charger, to a 500. The one they never got to.
The grille drops right in place and why shouldn't it? It's 75% Revell. I've left the trunk gap on the tail end of the window piece to help as a guide when fitting it to the kit body. I like to go around the perimeter with strip plastic and super glue. Then when I glue the new piece in, just place and hit it with some gap filler. The NASCAR version is nearly the same except it's tusks and headlights are removed and comes with block off plates.
Next up is the 1971/72 Roadrunner flat hood and "Petty" style grille... according to MPC anyway. This set is for the MPC kits. Yes it is a modified Monogram unit. I checked and rechecked between the two and the differences were negligible except the Monogram unit was the nicer of the two.
Sticking with the Roadrunners, here is a double bumper set. It will come with two front bumpers, two front grilles for multiple configurations, 8 headlight block off's, one 1971 rear bumper with added details. (This one needed a prelim mold to get a solid cast and do some light cleanup.) one 1972 rear bumper with added details and their respective rolled pans. Yes, the mess around those bumper bolts has been cleaned up.
Now we skip a groove and move over to the Chevy camp and up to 1973. First up is the MPC Chevelle set. Three piece front which includes header panel with added screw detail, separate grille and transition panel with added vent detail, and separate bumper with opened light/vent area and bumper jack knocks. Out back we have a new panel that can be mounted as is, or has plenty resin around the necessaries that you can cut it in however you like. Finally, a part that I am very proud of, the rear bumper with speed cuts. They're really straight and really narrow. I left them as narrow as possible so they can be easily scribed wider or easier filled in. Builder's choice.
There will be a set two, that contains the original style MPC rear bumper with shield plates and covered tail lights instead of filled. Expect the same level of detail.
Then of course there's the AMT version which, let's be honest, is mostly original to AMT I just added a couple details. Those bumper shields now have rivet detail, and there will of course be a second version. I've converted the tail light panel so it matches the later Chevelle's AMT made.
And now for something almost unexpected.
I went ahead and modified the front bumper to get it tucked in. There's a gap underneath that causes the bumper to droop forward if unsupported so, I'm adding the mount pins back where they should be AND filling that little gap for more support.
For the time being these particular parts will only be available along with a Chevelle set (either one).
In a day, maybe two, I'll post pre-order information in the trading post. In the mean time, if you have any questions about the items themselves, NOT about pricing feel free to ask. I have yet to figure out the pricing but as always there will likely be some giveaways and so forth. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

I have been quite busy and getting busier. Now that my schedule has opened up quite a bit more and my supply chain is back, I'm ready for the summer and I have several more parts in the works including the fabled '77 Monte Carlo parts. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." Those Roadrunner parts look very interesting. I have the Revell 1/24 kit to work with. Any info about compatibility with that? |

The MPC units are too small. This is why I posted about gaugeing interest (see main discussion thread). Since Revell never got around to doing the Charger 500, I did those parts so, I'm thinking about a 1972 bumper for the Revell GTX/RR. I do have a '71 bumper ready to be modified to stocker trim.
The '72 bumper will need to be carefully sectioned. The depth will be easy by simply thickening the top bar that runs under the length of the deck lid. The MPC bumper is off proportionally in that it's spans between the lights and license plate are too small. Once I widen it for the Revell unit, it should actually look right. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

I am working up an order form and pricing right now for the items shown/mentioned above.
Moving into the "On deck" circle are: '66/'67 Plymouth bumper and grille sets, 1977 Monte Carlo bumper sets. Standard and deluxe. The deluxe bumper set will have nearly 20 parts, '60's/'70's MOPAR chassis.
My "side woman" during all this will be the Dodge MAGNUM. STAY TUNED!! You know... if you can stomach it. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

And I may as well add Laguna S3 bumpers to the work list. The nose of that kit is all over the place like a ransom note. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

How in heck did I know she didn't want a seafoam green bathroom? _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

Thanks Gerald. I think on the next one I'll go with a separate set of front forks. Still the Revell chassis though. _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |

Couple face shots. This one is available now, Charger 500 NASCAR set for Revell, comes with window filler.
The new bumpers and gill slits are being produced along with the MPC Chevelle sets. I removed some depth and witch to give it a little sleeker look and moved the mount tabs to the proper location. There's a new nose coming soon.
The 2+2 nose redux. So far so good.

I'm sitting here going over the photos of the front end and a couple of these cars show the sag really well! She starts chuckling something about of all things Benny Hill! So I ask her what's so funny and she says the nose on these cars reminds her of an old Benny Hill joke. This guy is talking about an unfortunate looking woman and says "She had deep dimples, sunken cheeks, shallow eyes and a cleft chin... when she smiled, her whole face caved in!"
Then she went on to describe the exact same things in the 2+2 nose, and pointed them out! Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you before I go get fresh underwear. (She makes me laugh SO hard sometimes!) _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |
