WOW Fantastic BUILD one of the best Dodge Chargers I have seen. Everyone builds the Wing version and seems to forget this car all the teams had at least one of these in the stable. |

Wow. Absolutely glorious. Totally jealous.
The Charger-bodied cars were what truly won Bobby Isaac the GN title in 1969. As cool and sexy as the Daytonas were, the Charger-bodied cars run on the short tracks were the meat and potatoes of that team's racing effort.
If you're feeling ambitious, John, don't be shy about going for the tunnel-back bodied car in this livery as well. It was also part of the stable that season, too. |

Mean looking build! That's the car that won the Cup in '70. Forget the Daytona! _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

Yes, Bobby's Championship in 1970 was the result of wins in the 1969 Charger 500 and the pair of 1970 standard body Chargers.
Maybe the lowrider version of the 70 Charger in the future, John?
Nice work!

nice job john. it inspires me to give this one a shot using the dukes of hazard kit question though, by this time wouldn't there be some sort of spoiler on the rear deck?

Joe, you are correct, there should be a small (1 1/2" to 1 3/4") aluminum rear spoiler Tom M. or odcics possibly could tell you the size and timeline on the rear deck spoilers but it seems like I remember seeing a VERY short one on the '67 Gen 1 Chargers. I believe too, they were limited to the width of the deck lid. When my friend photographed these, there were two main things left on my punch list to do for this car. A small strip of v-shaped evergreen that had been heated slightly and shaped to an old spare body and then covered with matte alum. BMF for the spoiler was one item and a proper set of A-pillar deflectors made from the same Nashua brand HVAC tape that the bumper fairings are made of was the other. I have both on it now plus tire markings and a fuel cap leash made of a piece of tiny chain that was from one of the wife's earrings that each had about 50 little 1" tassel-like chains on them. I hope she doesn't inspect them too closely.

Joe, the fairings are done with Nashua brand aluminum HVAC tape. It is a little thicker and holds it's shape and doesn't wrinkle as much as others I've tried. I first cut a paper template of the shape and size I want the fairing to be then transfer it to the alum. tape and carefully cut it out with curved surgical scissors. It is super adhesive so I usually leave a tiny tab on each fairing to hold it by with jeweler's forceps then place it, (you've got one shot) burnish it down with a Q-tip end and put the rivet detail on with a 25 gauge syringe needle. I then take a sharp #11 scalpel and slice the little mounting tab off and flip it away.
As far as the color, it is either Duplicolor Chevy orange-red or Testor's Bright Red. I painted 2 within a couple of days of each other using each and they were so close, you could almost switch the hoods between them. Both were sprayed over light gray primer. If I HAD to guess, I'd say it's the Testors.

Gerald, yep this is the one. Both engine parts fit up beautifully. Still dealing with a real aggravating PE distributor though:)

Wow this Charger is so nice. The stance is just spot on! What wheels & tires did you use on this? Also did you only grind out the fenders or did you add putty around the guards & pump them out as well? Ill be building this car soon. |

Thanks Greg. You have a PM. I didn't add any putty, just opened up the wheel wells some. I did however thin the inside leading edge of each wheel opening to a more scale thickness.
