|
|
I haven't confirmed it independently but evidently it's reported on Facebook that Bill Little, known around here as "Ancient Modeler", passed away. Bill hasn't been very active on here in almost ten years but for those of us who were around since the days of dial-up modems and a forum that was one long wall of posts Bill was one of the anchors of this board. Bill coined the term "Darkside" for the era when cars that started as serialized, running, driving, actual stock cars could (and did) win races.
The board hasn't been the same place since he stopped posting regularly but even though he wasn't around much his spirit was always a part of this board. I never seem to have a face to face conversation with someone who I first met on this board without them asking me, "Have you heard from Bill Little lately", that's how much of a contribution he made and how much of a legacy he leaves behind.
See you later, Bill. Say hello to Jerry and Jackie Sims, Buford Wilburn, and all the others we have lost from this site and this hobby. |

Tom, That is sad news, if true. I called Bill the other month and we spoke for about a half hour. We had a nice chat. But Bill sounded dispirited. Just tired and flat worn out. Made me sad. |

If I remember correctly, he was a football coach as well. Very knowledgeable especially about the "Darkside" era. _________________ Dennis |

Been here long enough to remember him well.
Sad news indeed but it happens more and more as we all age.
I saw an interview with a lady who was in here late 90's. She was asked what her secret was. She said 'Everyone that is old got to be young.....but all who are young may not get to be old'.
So even in passing celebrate getting old.
Thanks Tom |

Bill had no problem letting me know what I was doing wrong in modeling and I had no problem with that. Those were some great days for an outsider trying to break in. Go high on that mountain brother |

Really hate this news. Always laughed when Bill posted F-A-I -R-L-A-N-E! Also remember Bill helping in the pits for James Hylton. He never minded sharing info or techniques. Gonna really be missed

I met Bill, Jerry and Jackie by accident at a car show in Charlotte, where they had a model display set up. Changed my life, I had recently messed up my right hand really bad in a work accident and I thought my model days were over, they let me know that it was not and became a huge influence on my participation in the hobby and my building.
God speed Ancient one, and say hello to Jerry, Jackie and the boys. |

Always chuckled at the signature quote on his posts: "Mongo only a pawn in game of life."
Uttered more famously by ex-NFL star Alex Karras in his role in Blazing Saddles.
His unmatched enthusiasm for Fords, particularly Fairlanes, was admirable. Being born in a GM town, it's taken me a long time to appreciate Ford race cars but he'd have been fun to chat with now that I'm building a 64 Fairlane model at present and have often referenced past threads on these cars to which he made great contributions.
Well done, Bill. Thanks for your time and energy on here. |
