If you have purchased a Dale the movie diecast, and the windows had that "raced" look, what do you use to remove the paint, debris from the windows?
thanks!! |

Or something that might lift decals off as well?
Want to get the Petty Museum decal off the windshield of the '77 Olds diecast. |

I’m fairly confident that Super Clean would take the scuffs and text off the windows, but it would also remove any black trim as well. I don’t know if would be possible to remove one without the other... |

You should be able to use a decal setting solution to soften the decals and scrape them off with minimal effort. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

Couple of options depending how the "dirt" was applied in the first place.
IF the details were applied using a decal (which would be easily spotted) use MICRO-SOL decal solvent solution and a q-tip.
IF they were tampo'd on (most likely), under normal circumstances I would say acetone or 90% alcohol. BOTH will damage the plastic of the windows. Sand and polish is your only option here.
I'm about to suggest something here, that might sound odd. If the debris was all painted on the outside of the window, leave it in the car right where it is. Most guys first inclination is to take the windows out to do this. That only adds stresses to the plastic as you rub it out. Leaving it where it is gives you the car to hold onto and the window is supported all the way around.
A good 1,000 grit should be enough to remove them. Polish from there with higher grits until satisfied ending with Novus plastic polish _________________ "Dude, it's not Camelot... it's only a model." "Details man, I need details!!" |
