Mark Martin's 1998 Valvoline Ford Taurus

This is the 1998 #6 Valvoline Taurus driven by Mark Martin! This is a Revell 1999 #6 kit with kit decals (Plus a few from a slixx contingency sheet).

Painting and decals:

The chassis is light gray. The body was airbrusherd with light gray inside, then masked from the inside and primed with testors flat white on the outside. I then airbrushed the outside with testors gloss white. Next it was masked and the testors dark blue applied to the rear of the body ...actually it may have been #6 blue from a can but I'm not sure! I then applied the hood, roof number and rear deck cummins decals. I then applied the body side/door number decals. These went on well but I cut them at the bottom of the a pillar and b pillar and also at the rear of the rear quarter windows to make it easier. I then applied the rear quarter Valvoline contingencies, the rear side cummins, and associate decals between the door numbers and the rear wheel wells. lastly I applied the head light, grille, little blue ovals front and rear, taurus, Roush Racing logo and Eagle One decals along with the little #6's front and rear and the bosch decals. Over this I applied a coat of testors high gloss clear spray. The body for this one as well as the 1998 Eagle One and Syn Power cars were paint a long time ago at a time before I started using the testors clear top coat model master from an airbrush which lays down a much thinner coat that will not yellow as bad as the heavy spray on white! Lastly I made a new airdam extension from a strip of the same kind of vhs label scrap as I used on the 2001 UPS car elsewhere on this site, then I painted the center caps, hood and trunk pins and fuel filler and painted and installed the clear parts. I did a model of this car not long before I painted this body and would have put up pics and a writeup for it then but my friend Johnny was waiting on it and my video capture card had died and I had no way to shoot it for the site before he came for it! Anyway It's finally finished and up on the site! Hope you enjoy it! BTW, I almost forgot... I did the same mods on this one that I did on the 2001 UPS car as far as the "Too wide track itis" which I explained in detail and I stole an exhaust from one of my 2000-2001 kits for it too!
