This is the 2000 #2 Harley Davidson Taurus driven by Rusty Wallace at
Daytona in july of 2000! It is a 2000 #6 kit with decals from JWTBM!
Painting and decals:
The chassis is light gray. The body was painted light gray inside then
masked and painted with testors flat white as a primer. I then
airbrushed testors model master french blue over the white. To finish
the body color I airbrushed Boyd's true blue pearl over the french
blue. I then masked and painted the rear spoiler , skirts and front
airdam extension flat black. I started the decal application with the
hood decal which I applied to the hood/fenders and allowed to dry and
then carefully cut it with a model knife at the separation of the two
and applied decal setting solution to make it lay down at the edges. I
then applied the roof number and rear deck pPg decal. I next applied
the Mobil One and mead decals in front of each rear wheel well so that I
could judge where to position the door number/flame decals. I then
applied the front fender contingencies, the goodyears, the Miller Lite,
the rear quarter Harley and the LENNOX decals. The Rusty Wallace
decals were next, then the pillar decals. Lastly I applied the
headlight, grille, little number 2 and TAURUS decals to the front and
the tail light, MILLERLITE.COM, Mobil One and little number 2 decals to
the rear panel! I used the kit headlights. I then airbrushed the
completed body with model master clear top coat. I made a new airdam
extension out of vhs tape label material just as I did with the #88 UPS
and # 6 1998 elsewhere on this site. I then painted the center caps,
hood and trunk pins and the fuel filler. I then masked and painted the
clear parts and installed them! I used the same method of narrowing
the track of this one as I did on the #88 UPS and the 3 1998 #6 cars.
I also lowered the rear by opening up the rear spring holes and allowing
the springs to go further up into the chassis which I did on the #6
cars. I hope you like this one as much as I do! John made another
great set of decals (As always)
