It would be a lot of work to convert the body to a Roadrunner. None of the panels are the same except for the roof skin (maybe).

I've looked at a RR conversion......and the roof is close but not even it is 100%. BUT with tons of work.....using the Charger body to scale off of....it might be possible. I'll leave it to someone else though. Laughing

what are your thoughts on this guys??? I never had alot of trust in what the directions said for color of parts...... I doubt if the Pettys ever used chrome valve covers...im goin with black. The directions dont say to paint the floor/chassis any color....Im guessing both sides of it are blue?

The Pettys painted most of the bare steel and aluminum parts that dark blue. All the suspension, the engine block and heads, etc.

They painted the body/chassis Petty blue and everything else seemed to get the dark blue treatment.

iagree I got to crawl all over the car in 1975 at the Goodyear center on CMS property. The chassis was Petty blue and almost all bolt on components were dark blue. Some steel and aluminum where appropriate.

Mine arrived today.
Some where I have a picture of a Petty Engine taken at the Petty Museum.

Oh and feel free to add the 'Dancing Bacon' to the emoticon list of choices.

Typically, yes. They painted the blocks a lighter blue (looked like parts store nonmetallic Pontiac Engine Blue, a shade lighter than Petty Blue) back in the early '60s but they changed at some point. Not sure when.

I think '73 was before they were required to paint the driveshafts white. I wouldn't have thought it was yellow though.

Not sure on the yellow.....BUT....R2 has a good working relationship with Petty Ent and they OK everything before production....so maybe it's correct.
