|
|
One of my all time favorites, Larry Flynn drove this
#18 Model A bodied, hemi powered modified at our
local 1/2 clay oval in Jacksonville.
I do remember seeing the red version of this car race.
Will never forget that big hemi engine when most of
the cars ran small blocks. Also was fuel injected
while most of the others were carbureted.
The red & white version may actually be the same car,but
I did a model of each based on photos.
Revell 30 Ford Model A body. The engines are from the Revell
32 Ford model.
Rear tires are from the MPC modified series. Ron Coon resin
wheels & Testors paint...

Both are super nice, but the red one is my favorite. |

Great stuff! Both very nice builds. I've been going through the archives of this part of the forum, love checking out all the Modified posts. They are my favorite kits to build. Yours' are great. |

Thanks, I do enjoy building the cars I actually saw run at the local track in Jacksonville. And most of the drivers had a NASCAR affiliation. Larry Flynn ran the Southern 500 as early as 1955 ! Also ran the beach/road course in Daytona every year.
No one noticed , but the Revell Model A kit has a chopped top. Had to add 5/32” to make the body height look more stock on both models !!! |

Wow! That's the first time I ever heard anyone say they added height to the roof! I am originally from Syracuse, NY. So, I also build some of whom I saw run at the multitude of central NY short tracks. Utica Rome, Fulton, Oswego and the yearly Labor Day Schaffer Race at the "miracle mile" Syracuse Fairgrounds. A who's who of Northeast greats. Some of which I hopefully will be posting soon. Love your work man. |
