|
|
When I helped run Deb's Model cars in the 1980's and early 1990's Monogram kit #2900 was on my order sheet every Monday. A kit that ALWAYS sold...most times to people who did not build models!!!! What kit??
I see Salvinos has announced a reissue of this kit. Good pick as DE Sr still a seller. BUT $55 for a kit (MCSS) you can find for under $10 and get aftermarket decals and still be good???
Beest of luck to them....hope they sell One Million like Mongram did......but I'll pass thanks. |

The ONLY advantage I see is hopefully they are molding it in white. Are the still using the same chroming method, the kind you can't strip. I haven't bought anything new in awhile, but wish they wouldn't chrome at all.
By the way, clean little build there Dave. Did you use the kit decals? |

I wonder how much of that is licensing fees to the various corporate entities? _________________ Dennis

The good news for me is that it is one more kit they relase that I don't feel the need to buy. I have already built that car. $55 US that I don't have to spend. |

I saw someone point out on social media the box art for the kit. No Earnhardt name anywhere on the car. So that would tell me Teresa nixed it from their end. If that’s true the $55 seems even crazier. That would be high for any kit obviously but if if was licensed through Earnhardt I could see something like that as far as pricing. |

The press photo is blurred around the window net area. So my bet is it's a RCR license. If they went through DE Jr they may have had better luck....Junior is into model kits and may plead their case.....or maybe he did and Teresa killed it anyway. |

I am sure Dave can back me up on this. Years ago, a friend had a resin and decal business, producing sheets mainly of independent and 50's and 60's drivers and cars. Never once did any of them ask for a fee or percentage, and we're grateful that they were thought of to produce these sheets. Many asked how to purchase them. (He always sent them free stuff) . Now the ones that don't need the money are hindering projects with their greed. The good old days are indeed gone. |

Part of the problem is drivers and other entities want advance royalties that are pretty substantial. If kit or decals do not sell, too bad for you
