Use a 2 part (paint & catalyst) 2K urethane clear. I use Splash Paints version and it is easy to mix and use. It gives a very high quality shine, dries hard, and does not shrink or yellow. 2K clears are far superior to Testor or Tamiya clears. You do need to observe health precautions (mask and adequate ventilation) when using this clear.

Are you air brushing, rattle can or hand brushing?
I like Taimya clear spray, believe it is #13. Not overly glossy.

Here's a discussion thread on modelcarsmag forum on alternatives:

http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/8964-using-pledge-floor-care-tile-vinyl-floor-finish-with-future-shine/page/16/#comments

Here's a Youtube video by HPIGuys where he tests Quick Shine Floor Finish, brushed on the way a lot of people use Pledge/Future:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PiiL5s4WRs

Of course, the standard disclaimer applies as with any new paint/clearcoat: Test it for yourself on some representative but unimportant (similar paint/decals) piece before using it on a model you care about.

I just did some powerslides with future or pledge floor finish or whatever they call it now and they came out very nicely.

Did you use an airbrush or just brush it on?

I brushed it on. Future is so fluid that if you put it on with the right size brush barely overlapping each stroke it will dry stroke free. This model was also painted with a brush but that had to be polished to get the light brush strokes out. I have completely gotten rid of rattle cans or airbrushes from my finishing techniques. Makes building a lot easier and the weather has no say in when I can paint because I paint where I build.

Well I guess I will have to make this bottle last me till I stop making models. My last bottle lasted over ten years.

I'm actually going to try to use future to paint my next model. The body is already the correct color so if it doesn't turn out right I can always use some windex to remove it and then use primer and paint.

So I got a dumb question that has probably been asked before, so please forgive me, I’m fat. With the floor polish not being made anymore I saw a YouTube video in which they used the pledge revive polish. Has anyone attempted using this? Thanks

Pledge Revie replaced Future. The video above from HPIguy shows the replacement floor polish that seems to be the same as Future etc.

EDIT: to make it easy.....here it is again

Thanks for the video, Dave. I tried to find a bottle of the
pledge but I couldn't, so I will now look for the Quick Shine and purchase it if I can, just to make sure I have enough clear for future models.

Indeed.

The Quick Shine seems to be a popular and widely available product and the HPIGuy video was very informative.

I still have a bottle of Pledge 90% full and just found a hardware store nearby with two still in stock that I will pick up shortly. Should last me for many years as I'm not exactly as prolific a builder as HPIGuy. Really liked Pledge. Easy to apply and clean up, self leveling and has never messed with any decals or paint finish.
