This was supposed to be the Napa 9 car but after paint and decal issues, she ended up in the dunk tank and became the USAF 43 car from Talladega. New Camaro kit, body was painted Tamiya AS6 USAAF Olive Drab, 3A's decals, and covered in Mr. Super Matte Clear. I moved the roof camera to where it's supposed to be, new roof rails from Plastruct 3/64" angle, a resin copied Gen6 fuel filler, and half puck cameras to the front and back.

Finally assembly has it's challenges. The body on my kit had a twist, and the front splitter was bowed down, so there was no chance of a body off build. The glass is a bit frustrating too. The jams need to be thinned out a bit since the windows are thick and don't sit 100% flush. My suggestion is to do some cleanup well before paint, I know that now for the next time with this kit.

Thanks for looking,
Joe

Looks Awesome, Joe. You did a beautiful job on this one. So glad they are offering this kit. Hope a Mustang and Toyota are offered as well.

Man Joe that looks great - I’m not a big fan of the new cars but you nailed that one. I always admire the way you seem to get the stance just right on all your builds

I’m trying to do this same build. I got decal set from 3 amigos as well

Would you mind sharing how you did the windows between B and C pillar. ? My set from 3a did not have any of those window decals like the sets that come in the kits

For the rear quarter windows I used the kit decal from the 9 as a template, masked the front part that stays clear, then shot them primer, paint, flat clear, and then the black decal border.

Great rescue job, Joe. I have looked many times at your fotki posts and imagined myself turning out such beauties at the pace that you seem to. Perhaps the final result of this build was more interesting than the original might have been? I love it. Would you mind sharing the correction fluid you used for dunking, and the type of paint it removed?

Thank you. It was supposed to be the #9 Napa scheme but between paint and decal issues, It made more sense to strip it and start fresh. Brake fluid was used to strip all the Tamiya lacquer off to bare plastic.

What tape do you use to mask decals ? masking decals scares me!

Also did you flat coat the whole body after the body decals were applied? I sprayed mine tamiya drab but the rivets and black hash stripes, etc all look glossy. your entire build looks flat which I am sure is proper
