Been a long time. I had posted many builds on the old site, lost a lot of build posts and WIP with the crash of the old site and the photobucket hijack.
i started this one about a year ago but due to some personal issues it sat on my bench. don't remember if i had posted anything here so i am posting everything i have in my folders. i'll try to keep it in order, it may jump a bit.
here is what i started with
[img]20200503_104652[1] by joe bombace, on Flickr[/img]
wired and plumed the engine and gutted out the interior and paneled out the interior doors and reattached the window cranks and opened the inner fenders for shock towers

prepped the body, removed all the molded chrome.

next i modified the front bench seat

and made a fuel cell
[img]20200414_134843[1] by joe bombace, on Flickr[/img]
a few more
test fitting a PPP cage and then completed interior including the trap door on the right front wheel and heat mat made og medical tape on the floor.

modified the chassis by cutting out the floor plate of the chassis and replaced with sheet plastic in order to let the exhaust dumps sit flush underneath. they will pass through the frame rails. added the brake lines and plumed the rear end pump/cooler and scratch made shocks from plastic tube and paper clips

front shocks/towers being installed, again scratch made.

and the completed engine bay

Wow - amazing so far! I remember from the old forum much discussion about the difficulty with removing the chrome on that particular body... _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

The work you have done so far is just beautiful. I love the solutions for detailing and "nascarizing" the chassis. Thank you for sharing your techniques. _________________ "When you arrive at a fork in the road, take it" - Yogi Berra |

Looking great , Joe. Ive got a 60 ford kit but cant decide on which one to do. Especially liked the wings and fastback roofs the Fords and the Chevys had in 1960. That was the first year I really got interested in Nascar. Saw the movie "Thunder in Carolina" and that really got me going. |

One step removed from 'dog eats homework'.
Man, I hated them skinny little SD cards. Much happier these days using the beefier CFast or XQD cards.
Great work. Look forward to seeing more. |

Went to showroom. Nothing there about a Fred Lorenzen 1960 Ford. |
