Finally finished it! Started about 2 years ago, couldn’t find the fluorescent red paint for a while, then i put a header together wrong that rubbed against the bulkhead, so i just shelved it for quite a while. Used the Tamiya photo etched kit and some aftermarket decals too… turned out ok. Just finished tonight.
For those of you who don’t know the story of this car, watch the movie “Rush”. IMO the best racing movie ever made, and one of my favorite movies ever.
Added a resin helmet too, since the i found some helmet decals. Thought it was a nice touch. I left off most of the red decal that lined the bottom edge of the car, weren’t sticking too well.
This is a 1/20 Tamiya kit, the parts fit together very well. The coolest thing about it is that the body had shallow etched lines to tape off the body for painting.

What a gorgeous rendering of this championship winning car. Side story: I was presentat the Trois-Rivieres Formula Atlantic race in 1976. back in the day a few F1 stars crossed the pond to participate in that race. Something unimaginable today! James hunt was present that year and lost to a young Canadian named Gilles Villeneuve. James was so impressed by Gilles that he convinced teddy Mayer to bring him in with McLaren for a trial. Villeneuve raced twice for McLaren in 77 before being poached by Ferrari.
F1 cars of the era were fantastic to watch in action. They all looked, sounded and handled differently from each other. amazing racing! _________________ "When you arrive at a fork in the road, take it" - Yogi Berra |

love your movie reference - that is one of my favorite parts of “Rush”
I also have a Lauda car that i have had forever and have bought sooooo many aftermarket detail parts for it… i have a spreadsheet of the parts and the cost of each so i can add up the total cost and kick my own @ss when i’m done for spending that kind of money on a model. It’s the 1975 1/12 Tamiya Ferrari 312T. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...
