What product is recommended for the the removal of masking tape residue from a painted body without harming the paint? Thanks.

Don't know if there's something better, I've used mineral spirits on stuff before and been successful. Just don't rub too hard or long.

I found that Bestine Rubber Cement Thinner is the best at removing tape residue and does not harm the paint.

I've always polished it off. Novus II or any similar finish polish will do fine. Just dab a fingertip size spot of old tee shirt in clean water and the then wipe it quickly around the inside of the cap off the polish bottle picking up just a TINY amount of the polish. (think smaller than a BB) Should take it right off AND cleans up after itself by wiping with a dry spot on the tee.

I found that what I thought was residue was actually the imprint of the masking tape on the paint. I had to polish it off.
