Hey guys, what's the difference in a 1999 nascar Monte Carlo and a 2005. In other words , can I use a 2005 kit to build a 1999 car? hopefully its just head light decals or the size and shape of the grille. Or something else that's easy to fix. As usual, I don't want to build the car that's pictured on the box of the kit and not the year of it either. Thanks for any info you can pass on to me about this.

Different bodies Mark. The 1999 looks like the 1996 style and the 2005 looks like the 2000 style. pretty different.

The '98-'99 body was the slab side version of the kit.

The '00-'02 had a flatter nose than the '03-'05.

I would say no. The body got a major overhaul in 2000 and the shape of the whole thing is different. The late 90’s Monte Carlos are all over EBay for less than $20.

The 98 Terry Labonte kit is like $15. I was going to just buy that instead of the doner.
