How do i post Photo's in my post??

If you don't have one already you will need to find an online host that allows "Hot linking" where you can store any pictures that you would like to post and where the board can access it. (You can not post pictures that are on your computers C: drive, the pictures must be hosted online)

Most of our members have free hosting accounts from Fotki, Photobucket, or any number of other photo hosting services. I'm sure someone will chime in to this post with the best ones to use. refer to the photo hosts directions about how to upload your photo's to their server.

A lot of Internet Service Providers (ISP's) also set aside a little bit of space (Usually 5 to 10 megs) for their subscribers to host a small personal webpage. Inquire with your provider to see if they offer this with your account.

Once your pictures are online you can then post them for the rest of the board to see.

On the posting page you will see a box with the letters Img (image), click this button twice. You will get this:

[img][/img]

Click in the middle of those two brackets ][ and then enter the full URL of your picture

Example
(img) http://www.yourhostprovider.com/yourpicture.jpg(/img)

IMPORTANT- in the example above i used Parenthesis ( ) instead of the brackets so that the example would show up. Had i used the required brackets you wouldn't see the example as the board would try to post a non-existent picture and you would instead be seeing the dreaded "Red X" or broken picture link icon.

To post pictures the img tags MUST be in brackets [ ]

When you hit the submit button your picture will be included in your post

Look to the bottom right of the pic and you will see a box with pic codes in it. One will say "Direct Link". Copy and paste that code between the [img][/img] and you should be ok. Very Happy

I've been posting photos here for some time but now I am having trouble. After I click [Img] twice like this:

[img][/img]

I go to my photobucket page and click the image code of the photo I'm trying to post then come back put the cursor between the image brackets and paste but the cursor moves from between the [img][/img] to behing the second one. What am I doing wrong? I know it's something simple. I have copied so many times and nothing is coming out when I paste do you think that there may be to much unpasted photos and the computer can't decide what to paste? aarrgghh

When using photobucket, you dont have to hit the IMG button, b/c when you copy the code from PB, it automatically includes the IMG brackets.

Yes I know. But when I use the image url direct nothing is happening either. I click on the code on photobucket and it says copied. But when I get back to message board and paste nothing has been happening. At one point it would only copy one photo that I had used on a post earlier. But in that post it only showed the link to photo to click on and not the photo itself. I have been wondering that all the copying from photobucket that I have done in order to post a photo with nothing happening has created a problem.

No, copying the URL's shouldnt have caused any issues. I wonder if its a problem w/ your browser.

Could possibly be. I did get some to post yesterday. I had to copy the photo at photobucket. It still would not paste, so i typed the img link url to make the computer think that it posted. Everything worked and the photos appeared but it's kind of a long way around getting it to work. Kind of a pain if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help. I'll keep plugging away and figure it out eventually.

Photobucket has changed (at least for me). When I click on "IMG Code", I no longer get the "copied" pop up, I have to right click and copy. Other wise, everything still works the same. Just right click and paste in the post.

Digger, are you using IE or FF? Ive noticed the same thing that it no longer automatically copies the URL, but when I use IE, or set my FF to emulate IE, it automatically copies the URL. I wonder if it has something to do w/ the newest version of FF.

It must have been an upgrade to Photobucket. It doesn't work for me in IE either. I'm using IE Version: 7.0.5730.11 and FF Version: 3.0.5. I can't find a version # for Photobucket.

this is the fotki way.

OK I think you guy's are using the Link to send via email/instant messenger:.

but you're suppose to use the Image URL for use on other sites: code.

so it's the [img]

and http://images52.fotki.com/v734/photos/2/1563072/7933237/DSC05044-vi.jpg

and then this again. [/img]

no space between image code and this code here. [img]

oh and if you use the Image URL for use on other sites: code and not use the [img] it will be a link, and that's OK but if you want it to be a photo you have to do it that way.

hope this help's. thumbsup

and the photobucket way.

this way is really easy, that's all you have to do is.

click the photo you want to post,

scroll down about half way, and you will see a box it will say share this image.

and on the bottom one of that box it will say, img code.

copy that code, and past it here. and you're done! nothing else to do.

this is what it will look like.

Had a person having problems posting photo's from Facebook.

Remember, The permission on the photo must be set to "Public" on Facebook. If you have it set to "Friends only" it will not post.
