|
|
Local racer Al Straub ran several seasons of Grand American as well as many years of ARCA. This Mustang (he loved Mustangs) ran back at Daytona. All I had to go on for this car was a B&W photo. I think the drop shadows were likely gold leaf in real life. Hard to print gold leaf on a laser printer. As an FYI, Al Straub's grandson is Daytona 500 winning crew chief Chris Gabehart who calls the signals for Denny Hamlin.

Came out beautiful, Dennis. I remember when you were asking for additional reference for this car. Laser decals using ghost white toner? |

Yes used my new laser and ghost white toner. Contingency decals are hawked from other kits. I did double up the numbers and sponsor decals. They seem to "pop" more that way. Mustang body from the Trope kit over a AMT NASCAR chassis. Wheelbase was perfect fit. Had to cut on the cage and the track width a bit. _________________ Dennis

Good job on doubling them up. Sometimes that can be tricky. |

Terrific build. Its nice to see these old Grand American cars and others built. Nice to get away from the regular NASCARS. _________________ If you bought it a trucker hauled it.

Agree with you on the big horses. I want to build the Wayne Andrews Mustang sportsroof he raced at Daytona. |

I have only two pictures of this model. I do have one that you may find interesting. The picture of "Santa" is actually Al Straub. His family purchased the model from me and gave it to him as a Christmas present.
