I get a "new announcements" video every month from Round 2 and it was in this months list.

I’m happy to see this one back. I would have liked to see a more inspired decal sheet, but everything else looks good! Perhaps the steamroller tires would work with the MPC modifieds?

I never could get past those tires.....I always put on something a bit more comfortable to my eye. We never saw tires like that at the tracks I frequented.
That said, glad to the kit back. A couple of cars immediately came to mind.

There will be at least 2 new decal sheets for this perhaps as many as 4...I will be putting those out myself through SMP Decals...

They want to repro the original kit....otherwise a better decal sheet would be nice. I did the art for the Allison Monte Carlo and offer dto do any race car......but not what they wanted this time.

On the tires I do think PPP are a better fit but I like the kit tires for use on my Showord builds....so win win for me! The tires, all 5, will be tampo printed with GODDYEAR this time BTW

ALSO....I have these for the kit

Other than tampo tires and printed windshield it is unchanged from the last issues and original.
Out of the box it lacks some details. BUT just some parts box items and some Plastruct tube and it can become a decent short track car.
I am happy to see it back......and race car is good.

What would be a decent fix for the rear of this kit, as if built per instructions, the rear sits "shy high"....
I'm not good at fabricating, even more so these days....
Thx..

The Chevy Impala is also being released again, so 2 of the original modified stockers will be out.

I never got the GTO, and I think that tool was returned to stock.

Correct....GTO gone, retooled. But strange the 69 Torino is available in stock and modified. Those in the know say RC2 cloned the stock body and left the modified alone.

I think from what Dave and others are saying the kits below should be available to run and may be coming back.
1964 Ford Modified Stocker
1969 Torino Modified Stocker
1969 Falcon Modified Stocker
1965 Chevelle Modified Stocker
1966 Impala Modified Stocker
1966 Buick Gran Sport Modified Stocker
1966 Olds 88 Modified Stocker
The last 3 are virtually worthless as far as using them for a recreation of a real stock car.

It would be great to also see the MPC Super Stockers back while I still have a few in my stash I would like to grab a couple more as they are getting pricey lately. I have always thought the Chevelle and Camaro could come out as I do not think those two bodies were not returned to stock like the Barracuda and Mustang, the Chevelle was a 70 and the stock 72 was out at the same time and the Camaro may or may not have become a stock kit as the Black version was also out at the about the same time..while I am dreaming I would also like to see the Cale Yarborough 73 Chevelle and maybe a newly tooled second new nose as a stock Chevelle not a Laguna.

You mean other than the "Mystery Motor" in the '66 Chevy with correct headers! That can come in handy sometimes!

Yea I forgot about that. But it would be cheaper to look for the parts or resin parts if available that is...

I found this picture in The New York Times Complete Guide to Auto Racing by John S. Radosta, 1971.

No indication of what track or anything.

I would really like more info as to where that photo was taken as well as a bunch of pics of those cars. It looks to me like there could be a few fun and good looking models there.....

Wonder if R2 will reissue some of the Tobias Modifieds as a few of those were reissued around the same time that various of Modified Stockers were reissued back in the mid 2000's,
Some of the modifieds and Modified Stockers were packaged for sale in W/M's

When driving to my hometown in Iowa back in 2007 from Albuquerque, stopped at as many W/M's both directions to see how many of those I could get my hands on....

The first time I worked at the VW shop in southern IL. around 1979 the owner had a 69 Camaro that he went to Pennsylvania and picked up that had the huge tires on it! He had to pull the fronts and put street tires on the front to get it on the trailer!
I had always thought that the tires on the modified stocker kits were an exaggeration until then!LOL

I have always loved those kits (maybe it was the box art) even though here in the Southeast, late models at the time didn't run those big meaty tires. At least not in the Carolinas.

I remember the mods ran them at Martinsville and called them "steam rollers"

I thought I would post a couple of 65 Chevelle decals I now have added to my Line up several more will also be added..
Monk Tate's 65 Chevelle

Ray Hendrick's 64 and 65 Chevelle

I kind of hate posting my Decals anywhere because of the number of people that copy them and run off cheap laserjet copies and sell them, sometimes for more than I sell them. But it seems they get the copies somehow. I have these on my website as well as eBay..

That's why I watermark and reduce the size of my decals when I preview them.

But still many have been pirated. One a set is bought it can still be copied and reprinted. There's no stopping that.
