Terry labonte's 1987 Budweiser monte carlo as ran at Michigan. Monogram kit with powerslide and wetworks decals. I used a cady decal for the decklid but iam still missing the kfc for the rear bumper. Tamiya italian red and white with axalta clear.

Great job! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an aluminum door handle cover on a car as late as 1987. Especially from a big team like johnson’s.

Jose got it right if he's representing the car from the Champion Spark plug 400.
In that race in '87 the car had the covers as depicted in the very first pic.
At the Miller American 400 at Michigan the same year, the car didn't have the covers. Might have been a time saving thing back at Ingle Hollow. I know that at M.C. Anderson's shop they would tack a plate behind the handle hole and bondo it smooth as they were using OEM door skins.
But Rob is generally correct. The covers were extremely rare after the mid-late '70's.
