|
|
Not sure if I want to go with the Alclad black basecoat on my next chroming task. Last time, it stayed sticky for weeks. I understand a glossy black will enhance the depth of the chrome finish, so what are any other options? I have read elsewhere that acrylic black with a Future coat works well. Any insights appreciated! _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

I have used Testors Gloss Black as a basecoat letting it dry thoroughly before applying the Alclad and the Alclad dried fine. You might also try Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black as an alternative. |

I have used Tamiya TS gloss black with the same results as using gloss black enamel, I think the reason they recommend enamel is because lacquer normally will etch plastic. The black Tamiya worked great. |

Any gloss black should work. I've had good success with Duplicolor as well and it dries really fast. |

The testors gloss black enamel works well and only takes about three days to dry enough to spray the alclad over it. Just shoot very light coats of alclad or it will look like silver instead of chrome. |

I've used Tamiya Dark Blue with Testors enamel clear over it for the Alclad to bite into. Looked great. |
