Was it a Malibu or a Monte or did he run both that year?

Both. A '72 Monte Carlo and '73 Malibu.

It was the Malibu that had the right side peeled off. Putting the side back together is right up there with Junior's gang doing 20 minute engine changes.

Saw Benny in the '72 Monte Carlo at the 1973 Carolina 500 at Rockingham. Plain red paint scheme with the #72. He had no qtr panel sponsors. Just plain jane. He blew a radiator hose and spun down the entire backstretch but didn't hit thing. Went on and had a decent finish. On my "To Do" list.

That's the one I was referring to. Since I'll be casting the parts soon, I have a specific build in mind. Twisted Evil
