Hi everyone, with the re-release of the Revell 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona I saw that Mike asked on FB what decals we would like to see for this kit. I once had the idea of making the cars from the 1970 Daytona 500 and put together the following list to help with decal location. I know that Mike already makes the #22, #71, and I think the #21. Ace makes the #6 and had the #99, one of my personal favorites, but it is discontinued. (Maybe we can get Mark to reissue it). Plastic Performance makes the #3 for the Ray Fox Dodges. The list has other makes on it as I said that this was a list of drivers and cars that I wanted to make, and may still do, along with all of the other projects.

I'd like to see them help us do a fantasy Daytona race car based around this sheet of decals:

It would also fill a massive gap by letting builders make Ned Jarrett's 1961 NASCAR Champion's car with one of the many, many '61 Chev Impala kits already out there.

Hey not sure if you still are accepting requests, but here are my top 3 Dodge Daytona requests:

1) Marty Robbin's no. 42
2) Buddy Baker's no. 88
3) Bud Moore's no. 1

And one alternate superbird:

Dan Gurney's no 42 from Riverside.

There was no Bud Moore #1 Daytona. Little Bud drove the regular charger for a time until he was replaced in that car by Pete Hamilton. It never was a Daytona. The racing Champion diecast of the #1 Daytona was just a fantasy car that Little Bud snuck into production. He was connected with Racing Champions at that time. I did several prototypes for Racing Champions then and Bud was the one I dealt with. It would be great though if the #1 Charger decal set could be done with both driver's names on them. It was a very good looking race car.

Ironically, Little Bud's #1 Charger still exists, is still carrying a #1, and is wearing Daytona sheetmetal. Dave Marcis bought it from A.J. King as a Charger 500, it was converted into a Daytona by Marcis once the Daytonas were approved for NASCAR, then it was raced as a '70 Charger until it aged out of eligibility. King and Marcis partnered up and raced the car at Nashville as a Late Model Sportsman in '73 and '74 then at some point around '76 or '77 it was purchased and restored as the Marcis Daytona. In the '80s it was sold again and repainted as the Goody's car in the Petty museum and finally Winston bought it.

The Winston #1 is a great looking car. I sure would love to have decals to build this car.

A Daytona would look cool painted like Petty's 74 Charger.

Wing would be BRIGHT STP orange/red!
STP logo would be on the nose, with the stripes coming over the roof and down the hood to it.

Cool
