I just ordered this kit. My wife started one about 9 years
ago. She abandoned it so I almost finished it. When I retired
and moved south in 2013 I never packed it, I think it got left
behind and when my wife joined me months later she tossed
a lot of "excess baggage", I think the box containing it was in
that load that went to the dumpster she rented to clean the house.
Oh well I'll just start over new. Here's where we were at and what I
am hoping to do as good as or better.---John

Past tense, looked great. Thanks anyways. I think I need new
decals, as I remember the kit's weren't the greatest. Is there a
set for the Firecracker 400 race on July 4, 1984? Thanks---John

I think Slixx did that specific sheet. I really liked those early 80s' Monogram kits.

Got a "weak" start on the chassis build. The weather finally cooperated and
I was able to spray some more parts. I have the upper and lower arms and
the engine glued in.---John

Just about ready to finish up the interior. Would anyone know the colors of
the instruments on the dash board? I have seen them on a model as white
faces with black needles and numbers. Also did the 200th win car have the
in car camera? Thanks---John

Thanks, the body has the bumpers and lights added and now I
am going to measure and mask the top surfaces and sides to
cover where the STP Red will be then paint the Petty Blue. I
measured the decals and checked several pictures of the actual
car to get it as accurate as possible. I did a test fit of the body to
chassis.---John

if you don't already have some, I have bad news for you... Tamiya is showing that paint as sold out on their site. I wanted some for a McLaren build and can't come up with any from the usual sites.

Testors (I know, dirty name) Bright, light blue is a good match.

Oh, I used Grabber Blue last time I used Model Master-Testor stuff.
It's the blue that's on the original '84 Grand Prix in the photos above,
the car my wife originally started. I think it was a Ford color? It's been
many years since I used it. I refuse to use any Testors-Model Master
enamel spray paints. They take years to dry, their lacquer spray seems
pretty decent, I used Flame Red lacquer spray, I think it's a Chevy color,
but it dried in 5 minutes. Grabber Blue pictured below.---John

Looks like i spoke too soon, blanket internet search vs. specific sites turned this up, i ordered a can of ts-36 and few other cans, just to offset the $10 shipping.

If you go around the edge and score the tape edge, you'll get a much cleaner peel of the mask. Neons tend to chip and rip.
