Tamiya TS-9 British Racing Green works well for Greyside 80's Bandit Monte Carlos

#3 Wheaties orange is the same as Home Depot orange, at least according to MCW's listings.

MCW, even thou they rake west coast people over hot coals on their shipping are pretty accurate when it comes to paint colors. Here is what is listed

Wheaties #3 - 2163 brt orange

Home Depot #20 - 2163 orange

That might be for the 99-01 years when the car had white on the sides, as they didn't go to the deeper orange until 02, when they added the black to the scheme. MCW I noticed is kinda late when it comes to updating paint schemes on their listing. (Try asking them what Top Banana is Rolling Eyes Laughing )

If anyone is doing the #29 or #49 WCW Wrestling Monte Carlo using Slixx's decals, Tamiya's TS-34 Camel Yellow is a bang-on match. I did a paint test on a spoon...

And just judging by eye, I think Tamiya's TS-24 Purple is the best bet.

I have a few ideas on the Testors line that can be used for '90s cars...

Ruby Red Metal Flake was used for the Mark Martin Folgers car

Testors Yellow with Flat Red base coat for Kodak cars

Testors French Blue for Petty cars, Kyle #42 Peak, Richard STP Pontiacs

1628 Competition Orange for Home Depot, Wheaties cars

Tru-Match Intimidator Black for #3 Earnhardt cars laugh2 Laughing Mr. Green

Testors Red for Coor's Red #9

Testors Light Ivory for the Ralph Earnhardt #8 1955 Chevy

This was before the newer lines of paint like Testors racing colors and the Lacquer automotive colors.

What White is recommended for regular white cars... this has been explained over and over. Do Not use Testors white in bottles or spray enamel... unless you like your cars to be beige colors. rant

Can anyone recommend a shade of blue for Waltrip's Napa car? DannyT already mentioned in this thread about "True Blue Pearl (52906) in the Testors Colors By Boyd line". The only problem is, is my LHS doesn't carry it pissed

I was thinking possibly Tamiya Mica Blue might be close too?!? idunno

I believe someone said that Mica Blue over an orange base will get the perfect color. If you airbrush, I know where to get the exact color.

Is there a way to make this it's own section and then make different cars stickies? It would be alot of stickies but if you organized it by car number it would have an ease of use. Then cars that may have several options for paint color would have that discussion under that car only. If I knew how to I would do the work and Mod that section if helpful.
Just a thought, no one smack me please Very Happy

I would 2nd the motion....

It would be VERY helpful to everyone....

ESPECIALLY to new members.....
It would make it so easy to find that certain shade
needed for a particular car that maybe on the "next "to build list.

Also ...other manufactor paint #'s could be listed.

EX: Testors regular line, M/Master line, Dupli-color,Tamaya

Personally...
I pretty much air brush with a co2 tank and
Testors reg and M/M enamal line.

I have painted right now my #11 Budweiser 1992 and the color is Pantone 485, I surf internet and find the pantone codes for budweiser logo and that's why I used Pantone 485.
Hope it helps

What color orange would be very close to matching the Powerslide #14 Copenhagen A.J. Foyt decals? I did a search on here and saw some possibilities but nothing definate idunno

Some suggestions were:

Testor's Competition Orange
Ford Poppy Red (which is orange)
Tamiya Orange

I just want what's closest to the decal color. Thanks!

The following pic is Testor's Competition Orange compared to the decal sheet. Would the roof #14 decal darken a bit from the black color and come close to the paint? As you can see, its a bit off. Competition Orange seems more red in this case compared to the decal.

That orange on that decal looks more like what is in Tamiya's TS line then Comp Orange. Testor's changed the bottle orange formulas a few years back, wonder if they did the same with the spray can????

What brand of paint would any of you recommend for this car?

I know its not regular Testor's Gold. This shade of gold looks more "pearly" than Testor's Gold. Anything in Duplicolor, Krylon or Tamiya? idunno

Need 2 recommendations for these 2 cars please. On a side note, I know Testor's Dark Red is said to be perfect for the red version but in all seriousness, I've had several bad cans of that brand and don't wanna mess around wondering if or if not its gonna work this time. I'm looking for something in Tamiya, Krylon or Duplicolor if possible. MCW is out of the question 'cuz I live in Canada. Thanks!

Tremclad Regal Red rust paint over Tremclad Red Oxide rust primer and you have a very close match to Folgers Red....

For Mark Martin's #6 Folgers Thunderbird from 1990-91 I found that Testors Red Flake was a perfect match.

Tamyia Racing Green seems pretty close to Harry Gant's late 80s early 90s Skoal Olds/Chevy

A very useful reference tool for painting model cars in automotive colors is MCW's "Automotive Paint Reference Guide for Model Cars". With this you can look up the paint code yourself and have your local automotive paint supply outlet mix the color for you. This is especially useful for Canadians like myself. We can not order paint from MCW due to laws regarding shipping hazardous materials across the border.

My answer is yes. The yellow on the McDonald's car are decals from Powerslide's MGD set. I did not post a picture of a 1:1 MGD car, but that set seems spot on to me. Below it is Camel Yellow most likely on bare white plastic. Hope this helps.
