This is for those only wanting to talk about decals available and what cars are going to built, and happy thoughts about the kit. Critical analysis of the kit is to be posted on a special thread in the Tips and Tricks section. Hopefully, this makes everybody happy.

I have three of the kits and mine will be the #11 C.Y. Busch, #11 C.Y. First National, #2 D.E. When the Petty version comes out with the decals I will build the Daytona 500 winner.

Hey Pat, You reckon the rear quarters and the front fenders have been "massaged" a little? Looks that way to me.

If you're talking about the Hawaiian Tropic car, Powerslide has a set.

That car was owned by Bruce "PeeWee" Griffin, it wasn't a Hoss Ellington car.

First off the line will be Buddy Baker, next will be Richard Petty. Both of these will be the Daytona 500 wins.
Then on to A.J. Foyt, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt, Dave Marcis, Tighe Scott and more.
I bought a total of six kits so far.
The kits will need some fine tuning, but I'm very thankful the people at Salvino's is filling this empty area in NASCAR history.

I just got notice my second kit with Petty decals is on the way from Mike's. So I gotta start with Petty's 1979 Daytona winner, then Buddy's 1980 winner, then Darrel. I'll probably do Donnie and Cale down the road.

I wonder if anyone is planning a 1979 Daytona "Last Lap" crash diorama? Very Happy

With a few tweaks, this could work for the forthcoming MC kit.

Hey guys, donít really build much older than the late 80s, but thought Iíd give this Salvino Jr kit a shot. Does anyone have any reference pics of the interior, under the hood or engine for the Baker Gray Ghost?
TIA

The cage and chassis are medium gray. Including the dash. Rear end and suspension components are black.

For those of you who have not discovered this yet: Be careful working around the rear window trim! It's very fragile like the old MPC kits of the seventies. I cracked mine pressing against it with my thumb while removing seams.

I got my kit today. First quick look.......
Now in hand it is better than I had read. Yes...it has issues. But MOST are fixable, many by the builder. Salvino's is experiencing first hand a 'trial by fire' method of entering the kit business.
The positives:
Looks like a good quality plastic. We'll see how it sands and take paint....but looks good.
Some really nice tooling. We all know the issues....but some of the tooling is very good.....showing potential down the road.
Decals...Mike's fantastic work. Having worked in the hobby field for years this is the most expensive decal sheet ever included in a model kit.
I like the tires...mine are all very good.
Two sets of wheels.....nice
MANY of the issues are not to hard to fix by Salvino's. A biggy to me is the ejection pin marks on the chassis. The pin marks being recessed all it takes is some time in the mold shop to correct. The only issue not easy is that massive transmission hump. Good news is once built it's not really seen in photos etc.
This being the first 100% new tooling for a dedicated NASCAR stock car kit since the 'D' grille Thunderbird or generic GM MC from Monogram I am thankful. Yes...it has issues....part of it is going from idea to kit in about a year. Most car kit development I have worked on go two years easy. That short time frame showed up i as errors. But also allowed Salvino's to start getting a return on thei year long project/investment. They are already tooling 'fixes' for this kit and looking forward to the next. I'd like to think that if we buy these kits and Salvino's sees a profit they may bo back and re-tool some of the issue like front chassis half. If we boycott the kit I know this will be like GALAIXE and their 48 Chevy. GALAIXE had visions of a big line of kits.....but have one kit with 3 bodies.
I have one Salvino's OLDS now....two more on the way. I'm going to give these guys a chance. Now I'm going back to the model room and start......
THANKS!!!

I think Dave summed this kit up perfect. After building a mock up chassis the rear end seems to sit just a tick on the high side, but have some easy fix ideas I'll share with everyone later. However with that said it's not totally wrong, as the speedway cars seem to be a little higher than the short track & road coarse cars.
I plan on building some short track cars as well as speedway cars that's what got me to thinking.

I love this kit and look forward to more releases from Salvino's.

Received mine yesterday. Pretty much agree with Dave on the kit quality. I have not weighed it but the box feels heavier than average. Parts are cleanly designed and the styrene has a quality feel. It is not brittle and carves nicely when trimming is necessary. The body is generally a nice representation of the car. Cage bars look nicely scaled. Window glass is very good. Tires have a quality feel and are accurately sized and uniformly shaped. (this is probably the first '70s era kit to have accurately sized tires in the box.)

I won't list my personal quibbles on inaccuracies here (and do do have a list), but this looks like it would make a great out-of-the-box build for the shelf.
