The 1984 Chevy cup cars, would they have had dual brake master cylinders and two ignition systems? Was the oil tank in the trunk? Where was the battery located? That's all for now, Thanks. |

dual master cylinders--yes
dual ignition modules---yes, the mounting locations were wildly varied though and controlled through a switch on the dash
Oil Tank was in the trunk, on the drivers side. The idea was to keep as much weight on the left as possible.
The battery was (and still is) located in a small compartment inside the left rear wheel wheel well. On the monogram kits of the time, the battery sat inside the box looking thing molded in the driver side frame roll cage part that woud sit right in front of the wheel well. _________________ Two of my favorite things, a lovely blond and a Dodge Charger |

Thank You Sundance. I am thinking about finally doing a very detailed Laguna Type S-3 and a certain 1984 Monte Carlo SS. Thanks again for the help. |

Don't forget to saw off the bottom of the front air dam, as NASCAR had ruled in mid - 1983 it wasn't legal since it was not installed on the assembly line, but thrown in the trunk for the dealer to install. This was necessary to provide adequate clearance on the auto carriers & railroad auto racks. Just run your razor saw along the grooves after you attach the nosepiece.
Look at period pictures and you will see a bigger front sheet metal spoiler under the nose of all makes in 1984. A piece of strip plastic replicates this feature nicely. Also don't install the sail panel glass, as it was not legal until 1986. |
