Just wondering if anyone has had issues with the Chevy not sitting right? I’m in the process of finishing one and you can see the floor area slightly too low through the exhaust opening. It’s all screwed into place so the only thing I can think of is the cage is too high and touching the roof...
Any tips?...

I'm interested also, I have one in process but haven't got quite that far yet in my build.

I too have one on the bench. My grandson and I work on it when he visits but not far enough yet to see your issue. Lets us know what you find.

I can say that I threw the wheels together quick and set the body onto the chassis to get an idea of front stance, I didn't pay attention to the chassis floor showing through. I did however close up the exhaust openings in mine and made jack post openings instead. From what I seen on my build all you see is the jack openings and 2 exhaust tips sticking flush out of the lower passenger side skirt. On a side note: I would love it if one of the fine decal makers on here would make faux exhaust dump decals Very Happy. Also, I'm not sure on your build but my kit has exhaust out of the passenger and drivers side, I'm in the process of cutting the drivers side pipe off and gluing/sanding the drivers side to existing passenger side pipe to make a somewhat realistic looking exhaust.

Shunter and Dennis, I'm going to work on my SS a little this weekend, I'm at the point now my chassis/interior is done and I'm ready to put it together to check rear height, I already lowered the front a while ago and need to check on the back end before I spray my final coats. I will let you know what I find out on Monday if you guys haven't got that far yet, if you have please let me know of any mods you guys did.

Shunter and Dennis, sooooo, here is what I found out last night. You have to drill open the axle holes to lower a little bit, that is the easy part Very Happy. I also discovered the body sits too far forward so on the chassis you have to cut the front of them down(absolute forward of the chassis) to slide the body back a little bit. After doing this you have to trim down the front air intake for the glass to fit and the body to lower down, then, you have to cut off about 1/4 inch of the dash so it sits down more. More to come as I work on it this weekend.

For what its worth, I have built a number of these kits and have not had these problems. The only issue I have had is that the glass does not fit properly and I cut each individual window out separately and glue them in as such.

I've seen your builds Jim, they're very nice. The how did you get them to sit lower? I actually have no issues with my glass, it snaps right in place and holds tight. I must be doing something wrong because mine sits high(sat) high. Offer up some pointers bud, help us out please Very Happy

Mach 2 on the old forum used this method or one similar to get the cars to sit lower. I copied it.

I cut square backing from sheet plastic, painted it the appropriate color and glue it to the wheel back. Then super glue the tire and wheel back combination to the axle housing. When the tire and wheel are where I want it, I will add some accelerant. I usually start with one of the back tires, and when it is set, I will move to the front on the opposite corner. By doing this, I make sure all of the tires sit on the ground.

I build these kits for my enjoyment, and they sit on my shelf when they are done, so I don't get that excited that the method I use is not up to engineering standards.

A variation on Jim's method of mounting the wheels: on a flat table or surface, make four stacks of coins to put the car at whatever ride height you want, put the car on top of the coins, then glue the wheels in place and align everything and let the glue set. I've used this method to make sure model aircraft sit straight and square on their landing gear and it's never failed me.
