Hello all,
I'm about the start the Revell Germany '66 Mustang GT350
Need some help on paint matching, please.
It's a darker, silver-blue with the white stripes.
What brand and color do you suggest for body color?
Thanks, all. |

If you have an airbrush, MCW has the Silver Blue Metallic (6533) or the Tahoe Turquoise (6639)....or you might be able to find a pretty close match in a Duplicolor spray found at automotive stores. _________________ "It would be poetic justice if Andy W lost his job and was left on the street to starve"- Bluesman Mark

Thanks, sir. I was thinking the same thing on the way home from work tonight. I stopped at Auto Zone and looked thru the Dupli-Color paints ($6.99 a can) for Fords. I wasn't nailed down to Ford colors, I would've gone with Chevy, Mopar, etc. had I seen something that I wanted.
I found Royal Blue (non-metallic), which is a very dark navy blue, and a lighter silver based blue called Blue Pearl something or another. Box art is an airbrushed picture, looks like a light silver-blue pearl. Then on the side of the box, there are color photos of the completed model and it looks to be dark Navy blue metallic.
What shade were the original cars, do you know? I don't rely on internet photos of current cars, I've seen too many that are differing shades from one another.
Thanks for your time. |

Sorry, meant to ask if there is a close color in Tamiya paint?
If so, would a base color (silver?) need to be used? What about a primer base? White or gray?
Thanks, all. |

Not sure if Tamiya has what you're looking for or not...if you have a hobby shop that carries it you can go by the color of the lid...they always seem pretty close. You will definitely want to use a primer. Either white or gray will work...the gray may darken the color coat just a tad though. _________________ "It would be poetic justice if Andy W lost his job and was left on the street to starve"- Bluesman Mark
