|
|
The 1993 Winston Cup Championship winning car of Dale Earnhardt. I used the Atlanta car from the 93 Hooters 500 as the reference and that's why the memorial decals on the B post are opposite of each other; that's what I saw from raceday pics of the car. Also couldn't find a raceday pic with the 'NASCAR Racecar' decal on the contingencies but if I'm wrong about those someone please let me know so I can correct them.
The kit is the DW Western Auto Lumina so I reworked the nose and tail of the car and extended the rear quarters down to better resemble the on-track 93 Luminas. Added the deck and rear window rails. Lowered the stance and ground off the little nubs on the backs of the wheels to suck the tires in and tuck them under the fenders. Homemade window net and a reworked seat to look closer to the style that Earnhardt used. Decals were the Powerslide Dale Earnhardt Lumina combo sheet. Testors black and metallic silver on the body and the interior is MCW poppy red.

Gotta love a black 3 - great job. Like the aggressive stance you got on this one. |

So, you got her done. Looks awesome and you did a great job with the decals you were having some concerns about. Can't have enough Earnhardt Senior builds. Thats for sure. |

Window net is made from masking tape. I use a ruler and cut thin strips and put it together on an old piece of glass from an 8X10 picture frame. I double up the tape on the outside borders to lock everything down then using a little finesse and a razor blade, I carefully pull it off the glass and shoot it with flat back. White glue to attach it inside the body and to the side of the car like it’s laying down. |
