|
|
hey y'all, i am working on a Dale Jr "Last Ride" build that i am planning on doing "wheels off", so to me the wheels and tires are pretty important detail wise.
can anyone give me an affirmative answer (not a guess) as to what those stripes of tape are indicative of? do they indicate left side, right side, front, rear, etc. or is it something else?
thanks in advance. _________________ ON DECK/IN THE WORKS: too many started to list...

They are in line with a lugnut so the crew member could "clock" the wheel correctly. |

One spoke of the wheel directly 'pointed' (lined up) with a lug nut hole.
That one spoke would lineup directly with the lug hole with the other 4 lug holes not being directly in line.
Tape was put on that spoke so it could be indexed quickly as Clyde said.
Look at the Gen6 wheels in the kit and only one lug hole will match a spoke directly
As for Gen7 tires having multiple tape, it is for indexing also. There is no standard as different tire carriers do things differently. |

As you said they used different color tape on left and right to help avoid installing the tires on the wrong side of the car. In the picture you can see red tape on the right side tires and yellow on the left side tires.
