Does anyone have any images of test cars from the ‘80s? I can’t ever find any by searching online and was wondering if someone had a link to a collection, or maybe you could post images some here. Thanks!

Yes, Dog, until this week those were the earliest test car images I could find online too.

A few days ago, quite by chance, while searching for pics of Kyle Petty's '87-'88 Citgo T-bird (MPR decals are on the way Very Happy ), I found this one. This is the first '80s car I've been able to find showing a primer paint job and minimal sponsor markings. So, they are out there!




I was talking to Doug Whyte at a model car show in 1989, and he asked if I had cable/ESPN/TNT (I did not). He said they show NASCAR testing with the cars in primer. That's the first I had heard of it, and I've been looking on and off ever since. I would love to see a Wrangler, Bud, or Coors test car. Smile
