Wanting to build a Porsche from the first IROC series. What kit would be a good kit to start with. Don't know much about foreign cars. |

I was in Daytona To watch The first IROC race. Cars were very colorful.
David Pearson said those cars are "just to little". But he was just as fast as those F1 drivers in his little Porsche... |

Use the old Fujimi Enthusiast Series kit #10, Porsche Carrera RS 3.0 (the lime green one)
Add the Historic Racing Miniatures Transkit for a really accurate version of the car.
It's not going to be easy to find the Transkit, but there are a few shops that offer them when they can get stock. Model Builder's Warehouse carries HRM stuff, but they've had a note on their website that says they're on vacation until March 13???
Or, just call Harold Bradford, who is HRM, and ask if he has any. (301) 604-8591. I was missing a part from one of his Corvette Trankits and called him direct; he answered, and the part arrived a few days later. Very nice guy, and outstanding resin castings - maybe the best in the US. |

That was a Wild start to IROC. Bobby Allison smoked a wall edge at Riverside and wow was that wild. Bobby had a thing for hitting walls in the worst place to do so. |

FYI, that Riverside IROC crash was Bobby Unser in a Camaro in 1975. |

Thanks for the responses everyone. That's why I like this site, members willing to share their knowledge.
I have since acquired the kit recommended (thanks Matt) and the HRM transkit with decals. |

Yes, he was lucky to have survived that wreck because the chassis was stock camaro not a banjo chassis like they started using in 1976.
