DK: Once upon a time, when the first motorists said, "My car can beat yours," a new kind of sporting event was born. These warriors battled it out on the dirt roads and ovals across the world. Today, the tradition continues at the Illionis State Fairground where 9 Fantasy Cup Series drivers will get their tires dirty. Hello again, I'm Dave Knight alongside NASCAR legend Darrell Waltrip. Welcome to the Quaker State 125 at the famous 1-mile oval in Springfield.

DW: The sport has certainly evolved since those old days but the dirt will always be where it all started and the spirit is running strong today!

DK: And with that, we go trackside for opening ceremonies.

Ladies and gentlemen, please rise for our national anthem.

And now, race fans, please welcome our grand marshal, 1984 Olympic gold medal winning gymnast and Illinois native, Bart Conner.

BC: Drivers, start your engines!

Green Flag

DW: Boogity boogity boogity! Let's go dirt racin', boys and girls!

DK: And Linda Lou Godlewski wasting no time. She wheels that Buick out of turns 1 and 2 with a 2 car length advantage over Keith Wallace. She'll maintain that lead down the back straightaway and sail through turns 3 and 4. Wallace cuts the deficit in half but come up short as Godlewski leads the opening lap.

Lap 37

DW: Whoa, we've got a smoker in turn 3!

DK: That's the 46 of JR "Razorback" Sealey. The 2013 Series champion with a problem early on in this event. Looks like another Razorback Motorsports power plant has expired.

Lap 47

DW: That 17 has been plowing his way through the field ever since the restart. He's made his way up to 3rd!

Lap 72

DK: We've got a spin on the back stretch as Bill Godlewski clears Linda Lou. Keith Wallace loops it around but stays off the wall. He's got a little damage on the left front but nothing major.

Lap 100

DK: And Sheldon Hatterfield powers past Linda Lou Godlewski for 2nd and Wild Bill continues to open up his lead with 25 laps to go.

White Flag

DW: One to go! Hatterfield's got one more chance at this!

DK: He rides the bumper of the 72, Godlewski gets a little loose but hangs on as they come out of turn 2. The man they call Wild Bill keeps the pedal to the metal, clears the front bumper of Hatterfield, and hammers through turns 3 and 4. Coming to the line, "Wild Bill" Godlewski puts the Quaker State 125 in the win column for 2023!

1. 72 - Bill Godlewski
2. 17 - Sheldon Hatterfield
3. 56 - Linda Lou Godlewski
4. 11 - Tim Wallace
5. 3 - Amy Hilton
6. 04 - Lee Loggins
7. 26 - Ken Wallace
8. 23 - Keith Wallace
9. 46 - JR Sealey (Out)

DK: And as we take a look at the point standings, we thank you again for tuning into this event. For Darrell Waltrip, I'm Dave Knight. We'll see you next week at Lucas Oil IRP for the Lucas Oil 150.
