Just received the sad news - Longtime NASCAR Winston West car owner George Jefferson has passed away. He was a car owner & crew chief for his brother Harry, and later was instrumental in furthering the careers of Derrike Cope & Chad Little. The Jefferson Racing team from Naches ( nah - CHEESE ) WA. was always a team to beat wherever they raced. Though Jefferson Racing was noted for being FORD loyalists for many years, son Jason would score his only WW victory at Tri - Cities ( WA. ) Raceway in a Pontiac painted & disguised to look like a Dodge !?!
In a perfect world, The NASCAR Hall of Fame would recognize more of the regional car owners, crew members, and drivers that helped form the backbone of the sport. RIP George... Crying or Very sad
