Plenty of people to help you, just give a few details on what you are trying to do. Are you trying to build a specific car? _________________ Dennis

Surprised nobody has jumped in on building tips. I have not done one of these, but I know it takes effort to get the wheels and tires to fit. Try searching the forums here. There is a member '67 Fairlane' here who would probably be of help, but have not seen him post here for a while. _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

If you can find a copy of Bill Coulter's book - Building and Detailing Scale Model Stock Cars it has a nice article on building a half chassis car. _________________ Forum member since 10/25/2010 |

Thanks! Seam the above decals are only current. The only model is the 1967. My under standing is it has a 1965 front clip. but what is the rest? It is shorter in stock form. Did they start used them in 1966 or are they 1967. I will try to find more info. Thanks Again |

The 66 and later Fairlanes and Torinos did use a 65 or later Galaxie front frame clip. It was narrowed about 1 1/2 inches and steel rails were used to connect the front and rear clips. The chassis in the Polar Lights Talladega and Spoiler II kits are just that arrangement.
Use a Polar Lights Ford or Merc chassis under an AMT Fairlane and you're basically there. Some fitting is required. |

I have Bill Coulters book that was mentioned above. It is pretty intensive instructions but if someone wants it, I'll try and scan the pages for you to look at. It's probably 10+ pages _________________ Dennis

If you look at a Polar Lights Talladega or SpoilerII chassis, it is exactly the same as the chassis Coulter put together. The Polar Lights kits came out after Bill Coulter's book. The PL chassis is a pretty accurate depiction of a half chassis Ford. It is the same chassis used until they changed over to coil springs about 1972. At that point the only difference was the rear clip was different for the coll setup. |

On page 4 of this section there is a post '66 & '67 FAIRLANES & CYCOLONES *ADDED ANDRETTI #114* BY 67 FAIRLANE
This should be maid a stickie.
The only MPC kits I can fine is Bobbie Allison Cyclone. There two '66 Fairlane one GT/GTA which have hood bulge and 427 with flat hood.
Since Firestone and Goodyear both were run how do you which to use?
Some have vent window. Speedway all window. They have outside door handle and key lock.. |

Going to take Bill J advice and order PL-R2-948 1969 Bobby Allison's " Coca Cola" Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II and AMT 6926 1966 Ford Fairlane GT/GTA hardtop. Y'all will have bear with me been long time since i build a model 1988.
Going to try to do it as good as I can. Again all help and suggestion. Need to learn how to load picture. Guess I will be a YELLOW BUMBER modeler!
Is it ok to post in this stickie? |

Here are the two cars. Bill J was right the red chassie is the same even down to the E-brake on the red one. I will measure both to see what has to be done to them in. Will try to explain what I did. Maybe I will learn how to put a picture in my post. |

Herbert, posting photos with Fotki is easy. Click on the, "Share" tab above the photo in your album you're looking to post.
copy and paste the link I circled. When you paste it in a message, highlight the whole address and then click the, "Img" button and make sure it's sandwiched in between the .

Do this without the spaces I left in front and after the address. ( did that to show what the format should look like.
When done right, your photo will post.
Hope this helps. _________________ Joe Oteri

In the above post the picture is Scott Liggett's hope he does not mind me borrow it. The passenger side has 2 bar like the picture on line of 67 Ford Fairlane. There is also in this picture a 2 four barrel air cleaner. What years were the 2 four ran? Also I saw on Facebook some one said that the 41 H&M was the first half chassis car true or not? |
