Wayne Shugart ran the Florida dirt tracks for over
forty years. Last raced in 2013. Was from St. Augustine, a
city where I always wanted to live. Always considered a "local"
from the JAX 1/2 mile dirt track.
Model is built from a Lindburg 66 chevelle. The original
Chevelle had a bit of a history. Was a former Grand National
car that last ran in the 1968 Daytona 500. Car sat at the
JAX speedway for months under a shed before it was converted to a late
model dirt car. Wish I had took pictures. Car was very
impressive .Looked ready for another run at Daytona...
Wayne waved the checkered flag many times
Rare appearance on a track that was not dirt. Ran this Mercury
in the 1975 and 1976 Permatex 300 at Daytona.
