Looking over options for this era of Tbird There really aren't a lot of options.
Hogdon
Norton
Melling
Elliott unsponsored (can't find them)
Stacy - just completed. Slixx were brittle
Jarrett. Budweiser (going to start next)
Earnhardt
That's all that I can find. Am I missing some? Anybody got any decal bashing ideas?
Thanks |

Walker out of Monroe NC ran a white and blue 81 Bird. #96 not sure how many races made.
Mark Stall #82 Bird kinda looks like a Woods car.
There were at least 4 Elliott 81-82 Birds. Blue w/white, simple red & white and the red, black and white that is best known. (1st win)
Also the Coors 82 Bird Bill ran at Martinsville. NOT painted the same way the 84 Bird was. |

By 'Melling' are you referring to the Bud Moore/Benny Parsons car or Bill's later red/white one? _________________ Bill Jobson is my real name. |

by Melling i mean any of the paint schemes for that sponsor. there are multiple options. Forgot about the Carolina tool. Built that one already thanks to Dave's decals.
will look for the Tommy Gale car. Should be able to use some existing decals (I hope). Just trying to do something different than the Elliott / Parsons cars. Looked at the Mark Stahl pics. AutoBell car looks nice with white wheels! Just need decals.
I just dont want a fleet of different schemes of one sponsor, would rather build out other garages. Checked RR last night and not a lot of teams ran the body. What a shame, I like the kit. |

here a couple of builds in regard to this thread I built about 10 years ago.
Tim Richmond actually drove a couple of variants of the fast ford tbird. He actually did win a race in this car. According to racing reference, the cup guys that did not qualify for
the Daytona 500 ran a 50 lap race for the non qualifiers. If I remember correctly, he did win this non qualifying race in 1982. Not for sure this is accurate information but I'm under this impression of memory.
Would love to see the footage of these races if they exist.
yes, these are the decals I used 10 years ago or so. Still have a few left.
digging into the obscure vault-Glenn jarrett i believe
I actually spoke via email with Will Cronkite last week in regard to this car. There are not many photos of this fill in Stroker Ace movie car. I have always wandered if the numbers on this car were solid orange. I sent him some pics of this car and he said to the best of his memory the numbers were solid orange. He did not have any more photos to add besides the ones I sent him. This should have been a real cup car. Kyle's 7/11 ride was one of the best schemes of the 80's era in my opinion.
