Hello All.
Does anyone make any decals for H.B. Bailey? I've only recently learned about him - and I thought it was cool that his first name was Herring, since that's my last name.
Anyway - does anyone know of any decals for any of his cars?
thanks! |

I seem to remember there was a JNJ set way back when. Maybe Penguin decals did one, If Dave is looking he'll chime in. |

BTW, Bailey was the first stock driver to make a qualifying attempt at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway back in 1994, He failed to qualify for the race though. (That's some totally useless trivia for ya.) |

Herring Burl Bailey of Houston, Texas, was a Pontiac loyalist, starting in 1962 when The Tin Indian was the hot car to have, into the 1970's when it was NOT even warm, and into the downsized era of the 1980's when the brand was competitive again. H.B. ran at least one NASCAR race from 1962 through 1993, missing only 1974, '76, '78, & 1980. ( Something about even - numbered years perhaps ? ) He also raced in USAC & ARCA Stock Car events a few times as well. |

Thank you for the replies. I've reached out to Lobographix; hopefully I'll hear something soon.
Any recommendations on kits, or starting points, to build this particular car?

He had a junk yard in Houston. I bought some parts there for my 63 Chevy Impala SS, that I changed out my powerglide for a 4 speed. He was a frequent runner at Houston's Meyer speedway. The car that I think of when I remember him in Nascar was his 64 Pontiac. I have a picture of it some where.

Cant answer the decals question but actually met him when I lived in Houston and never realized who it was til years later. He ran a salvage yard off Almeda Rd in Houston and I as there looking for parts for my SC/Rambler. Found a perfect dash pad and when I went to have them pull it for me, he calls his yard guy over to go get it and without breaking stride says ...."and dont you f*** it up or you're paying for it!"- he was a character to say the least :^). Wish Id realized who he was at the time as woulda loved to chat with him |

I agree. I hope I can do this without making a mess of it. I have a Revell '70 Firebird in my stash. I had planned to build it out of box, but after finding this ... |

FYI......H.B.'s Grand American Firebird was a Holman Moody build....
He had a team car as well (#96) that Herb Adams (among others) drove.
The engine had a nice high rise manifold. |

Tires not staggered. Car(s) ran in Nascar Grand American, Grand National East & USAC. PM me with your email address if you wish for other photos of the car. |
