Thought I'd share a couple of pics of Junior Johnsons 73 Carling Monte Carlo being built by my brother. Salvino kit on Monogram chassis with trunk and bumper mods to back date it. Spoiler fron Buick Regal and rear bumper from unknown Mopar kit. Thx for looking. Tom

Brillant idea with the bumpers! ..agree
This looks much more realistic than the Mack sized bumpers of the original kit.
I will follow this build with great interest and I can't wait to see the solution for the front bumper.
Just when I thought I was done with the Salvinos MC's...

Nice work so far. That is a tough body to tweak. I endeavored to grind down the kit bumpers and it was like breaking into Fort Knox. Those look great.

Not sure what his plan is for the front . The 73 and 74 are nearly identical as near as I can tell.

Only difference was the leading edge was flat, with rivets, on the '73, and was ridged in '74.
Either way - the kit bumper is DEEP. I had to sculpt it down considerably:

Really like how you reworked it to look like the more svelte 1973 Monte Carlo, my favorite year of the GM colonade cars.

I think that rear bumper may started out as what is in the 1:25 MPC Sheriff Rosco's Police Car/Force 440 kit?
