had to take a step back from the McLaren for a little bit, had some builder induced fitment issues.

got my Deegan decals from MPR the other day so i figured, why not...

i made the "box" for the rear end that is used on the superspeedway cars, not installed yet as i forgot to fill in the lower rear bumper area. i usually glue a piece of strip there and putty it, but the body was already painted... and on the real car, it looks like and insert. so i glued the usual piece of strip and then cut and sanded another to fill in, it's in paint right now.

this is gonna be the Daytona build, and her car had quite a different lower valence area than your usual NASCAR splitter, it kicks out quite a bit and has a lower lip added. for reference pics, see Mark's post showing his decal preview. i ended up using one of Brandon Miller's older style splitters with a thin piece of Evergreen strip glued to it. didn't turn out too bad IMO, and i also added some strip to the rocker panel areas to lower the stance, without messing with the actual kit suspension. this one is pretty much gonna be a box stock built chassis.

Tamiya semi gloss black over flat black.

more to come soon.

Is that a primer coat or finish coat. I was just watching a Arca race and it is shinny black.

This car is from the 2020 ARCA season. She will race in the NASCAR truck series in 2021. Has a development deal with Ford.

Finish coat, Tamiya semi gloss black. All the Monster sponsored cars that i have seen are semi-gloss black - Deegan, Kurt Busch and Ty Gibbs.

That very well may be, but if you look at the reference pics that Mark used when he announced the decals, the car was definitely not gloss black at Daytona.

I know it has been run the flat black or what ever you want to call it but it was gloss at that race. Its one of those you can go either color on and be right.

I was curious so i looked for pics and videos from the race at Winchester that you are talking about and it sure was a shiny, gloss black.

But i’m not building the Winchester car...

So let’s just end this back and forth here. Thanks.

Got a little more decal work done - rear end, little bit of the front, under the hood. Have to figure out placement of the teeth before i get too much further. Also removed the small window net that is molded in the body and made a section of glass for that location from clear sheet plastic. Used some of the window net from a “parts” Fusion kit that i have to make a properly sized window net.

Starting to look more like a race car... gonna tackle the teeth on the hood shortly, that’s my current holdup... lining up the layering...

So i figured something out (with about 95% of the decals applied already, little late) - the Ford logo doesn’t go on the hood, as with most NASCAR Fusions, it is supposed to go between the hood and the grille, on the body. That allows the teeth to sit further down on the hood towards the front.

Mine doesn’t look this way 😳

Very nice build. Great to see folks showing respect to Hailee. Seen her run out here in the PNW at Monroe Speedway and that young lady can really wheel a car. She's got a bright future in front of her.

Bravo, Sir...Bravo!
