Hey guys, I have searched and read but can't find an exact answer. I am building my first model in 15 years. When it comes to the process I want to make sure I have this correct.

1)Primer coat
2)sand
3)start 1st of how many ever needed finish paint coats
4) Future clear coat
5) Decals
6) More Future clear coats
7) polish wax

Also if this is correct how long should I let the future dry?

Thanks so much for helping out I'm so glad I found this community.

Everyone has their own technique regarding the paint process. Depending on the car and level of accuracy desired, some may need the decals coated, some may need their decals to be top layer. Regarding Futureshine however, it's a bit tricky.

First off, if you're using future, you really don't need a clear coat or polish and you cannot polish Future. (It's properties are akin to trying to sand super glue)

You must do only ONE coat, and allow that 24 hours to cure before adding a second. Properly done, a second coat should never be needed. Piling on Future until it's as thick as automotive clear simply doesn't work. If you do want or need a second coat I recommend waiting 48 hours.

Even though it's cured, it can be affected by chemicals such as windex (ammonia) or decal solutions. Depending on the atmosphere at time of application, it can even be affected by the dip water.

Final recommendation? Futureshine should really only be used as a final clear coat after all else has been done because of it's finicky nature. This article should help more:
