While trying to work during the day, help with home schooling the kiddos in the evenings, I've been working on decals on this. Revell kit, Powerslide Decals. First time using Rustoluem paints, Sun Yellow and Brilliant Blue. Never built a Wrangler car before so I figured it was about time.

I couldn't find it at LOWES or WalMart. It'll turn up somewhere. Looks like it matches the decals perfectly.

Thanks Mack. Sorry to anyone that was looking for the paint I used. Had a brain fart with all the homeschooling and trying to get work done at the same. Mack was asking about it and come to find out, it was actually Rustoleum Paints that I had used not Krylon. The paint colors are correct though.

Slow progress. Got the wheels completed. Scuffed the tread of tires to do away mold line and give them a used look, decaled and flat coated. Wheels semigloss black and highlight painted recessed holes, lugs and hubs

If you're not use to Krylon or Rustoleum paints, you need to take your time and let them dry at least 1 week between coats. I see so many people have issues with their paint jobs. These paints are all I use so I have experience with them.

Paint looks awesome. I'll be using rustoleum this time around, simply because I no longer have a source for tamiya. Just have to make sure I dont overlap the colors this time. Turned out badly the last time I used them . Crazed something terrible.

Super nice !!!

What did you use to "flat coat" the tires after the decals were on them ?

Thanks for the reply !! Love it.

One other question -- what did you use for primer on that car ?

And did you primer the chassis before spraying the blue on it ?

Thanks

Hi -- I wanted to ask you about this. Are you saying to wait "between coats" or even after spraying a single coat -- like on the chassis/roll cage ?

Here's why I ask:

Did you have any issue with it drying to a "hard" finish in a reasonable time ?

I just finished a Bobby Allison Gatorade Buick and used the Rustoleum "2X Painters Touch" flat black primer spray paint on the chassis and roll cage. It seemed like even after a couple days it felt "soft" or a little "tacky".

I used the Rustoleum "2X Painters Touch" gloss white spray paint on the body (over Rustoleum gray primer) and it too seemed like it wasn't really "hard" and dry until at least a week or more after spraying it.

Did you have this issue ?

J.J. are you using the rustoleum 2k painters touch paint. If so, did you prime or just shoot without priming since this paint already has primer in it?

I use the same paint. I find that it is a good solid week before it doesn't feel tacky to the touch. I only use it on the chassis but I shoot about 2 coats within the hour.

Thanks -- always good to know it's not just me. Smile

But.. too bad it acts like this. I hate parking a project for a week for this.
