Hi all:

Have any of you found a good way to remove the mold seam or "step" from the inner side wall of the 1/24 Salvinos JR (Monogram kits) kit tires ?

I've removed it using a nail file while turning the tire on a socket with my drill, but now I'm not sure how to remove the "roughness" and return the side wall to a smooth lustre finish ?

First, use a fine sandpaper, about 1000 grit or better and smooth it like you did with the nail file.

Next take piece of denim, like from your old jeans. Repeat what you did with the nail file technique. The denim will bring a semi gloss sheen back to the tire.

I personally have not used a nail file. I have a bolt, washers that I put in a drill to spin the tire. I have attached about a 400 grit sandpaper to a piece of wood. By spinning the tire on the sandpaper it removes any seams. I have a second piece of wood with 1000 grit to smooth any sanding lines or marks I wish to remove. Tread surface seldom needs to be shined up. I do use an xacto knife to remove the raised goodyear letters and use the above process to remove the goodyear remnants and restore the sheen,
