Happy Birthday America. Just finished up Jr's 2014 Daytona 500 car. Body was base coated in MM Classic White, Tamiya Pearl White midcoat, Tamiya Pearl cleared, decaled, and then cleared everything with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear. Splitter and roof cam from Brandon Miller, goodies from Stoney and the Elliott kit sheet. The piece of sheetmetal is from Jr's clash car.

Thanks for looking as always,
Joe

Really nice looking build.

It sure looks like that’s a glue kit, not a snapper, and it seems to me (from my attempts to decal my same build) that the decals are sized to a snapper. What did you do to get the decals to fit right? I can’t seem to do that, dunno if i need to do some trimming or not.

Thanks guys!

I did use a glue kit and I believe these decals were drawn up for the Lionel diecast since they came out before the snappers. The stripes coming up over the front fenders were a huge pain to get them to curve, needed plenty of solvaset. Getting the blue to sit on top of the rear quarters flat was a challenge too. The decals seemed thicker than usual and the gold foil was even more stubborn.

Yeah apparently the red was pearl coated too.

Thanks again

Thanks for the explanation. I am on my second set of decals and not sure if it will ever get finished...

Great work! I built this one several years ago and the decals were a challenge.
