The question is, how many reds and grey chassis colors are there? I now of a lighter and darker grey, possibly Gull Grey? Did they do more than one red? I believe Dale Sr. used a certain color of red.

Secondly, I thought I read on here what people are using from Rustoleum, but I can't seem to find it now. Any suggestions?

Before NASCAR mandated chassis color there were as many colors as cars in a race!!! The Childress #3 Monte Carlos were Chevy engine red.....which is closer to orange. Woods used gray for many years.....but go to their shop and there are a few shades.....age??? Dirt??? different paint??? Gotta pick a car and a race....then figure color!!!

LOL I'm not sure I need to be THAT authentic LOL

I bought a new can of Behr "grey" paint that looks like a good shade. I'm excited to see what it looks like in comparison

As Elbow's song says, "Just pick a point and go".

I went through the gears on this with several cars from bygone eras. Find a reference pic that shows what you like and work with it. Or 'best guess' it from related images from that race team in that era.
