I just got a message saying "Almost done" and have been given permission to show and tell. Smile

That looks awesome. Would only be more awesomer if it was a dirt modified.

What “model” of modified body is it?

That's pretty much the idea. If I understood him right, the body panels can be configured more than one way and there should be some nice dirt tires as well.

Imma take a stab and say the driver's name would be Bobby Generic. (Clap three times and turn around once if you get the reference)

While dirt chassis cars are SOMETIMES run on pavement, I haven't seen or heard of a pavement chassis car being run on dirt since the mid-1970's! Dirt tracks just aren't smooth enough for a modern pavement car to race on, with VERY few exceptions. That said, what a great and welcome surprise! ANY new short track car will find a home with me! And since I do build dirt cars as well, if the dirt tires really are included, I'll find a use for them! As far as this car goes, it looks pretty accurate for a modern pavement modified.

there is a seller on Shapeways that has an accurate dirt track cockpit detail set, like accurate shift levers, that would be needed for a dirt version. that, and a screen/bars instead of a half windshield and some protection for the front of the air cleaner. too bad Dirt Modeler isn't answering orders or emails, or you could add mudplugs to that list too...

but all that being said, gonna be in for one, fo sho...

Got this email today from Jim Rogers at Salvino's....

Apologies for this being a form letter, but I’ve got about 50 emails to reply to about the modified I’m designing, and the response has been awesome, but you need to know that nobody wants to see this hit production more than I do! It WILL be coming, but probably in several months.

A little fyi on the project; we WILL be making it, it is just the matter of raising cash for the molds, it is 1/25th scale (no, we can’t do a 1/24th too) it is not exactly a Troyer or Fury, the engine details may be GM and not Ford, wrong brand of hood, etc. but close enough to keep 98% of the builders happy (the people we design kits for), and the 2% that aren’t also have the skills to make their own resin parts, though I may have 3D printed parts available then. Probably no dirt tires this go around, but they will be available WHEN we do the dirt kits.

I have added your email address to our email blasts so you will get occasional emails showing what kits are available for pre-order, if you haven’t, please like and follow us on Facebook and you’ll see exactly what we are up to and what progress is being made on this kit, and maybe in the mean time you’ll pick up some of our other kits. Calling, writing, messaging won’t get this into production any faster, sorry, unfortunately it’s all about the Benjamins for the molds and we’re doing our best working that out!

So happy to see this company succeed and looking forward to the modified kit. Guessing it will out sell the NASCAR kits.

This kit will be a hit, I've wanted these forever. A big thank you to Jim Rogers & Rick Salvino who are working their tails off to bring us some great kits.
If it weren't for these guys we would still be building reissues, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Last week on their Facebook Live they said there are no immediate plans to release it, but possibly by the end of the year. They did emphasize that it is 100% guaranteed to happen, they just have to get the money right.

Money is always the deciding factor. My brother in law worked for the 2nd Accurate Miniatures company. So when I'd visit the shop in Concord I'd get a peek at what was on the drawing boards. If things had worked out better we'd have a lot of models yet to be kitted.....and may never be done in plastic. If they were still with us we'd have a Mustang and Camaro and maybe a Toyota.....alomg with a lot of road racers....

If this sells well for Salvino's, would like to see a dirt IMCA style modified. Though have not talked to a chassis builder for this style of car recently, but back around 2014/15 talked to a builder/owner/driver of one of these styled modifieds, and he sounded interested in having someone create a model kit of his cars....As for decals....there could be interest within the USMTS (U.S, Modified Touring Series) as well as this owner's own decals....

In a conversation I had with Rick several weeks ago he said it would be a money issue perhaps this would be a time for say Dave Burkett to partner with them on this project it may also lead to other projects with him or others...

Model King / Dave is tied up pretty close with Moenius now. I have worked with Dave almost 20 years now......he has a number of projects on the board right now. Maybe Dirt Track or someone new.....
