Faux hood pins. Agree or disagree? Better ideas or solutions?

Anyone made a better hood pin on their models? Detail Master makes a kit for it, but I've never seen one done.

I'm sorry and not criticizing anyone, let me clarify

They, the makers, give you very little to work with, what do you guys do?

Sand them off. Replace with PE.

Fill in the holes and use faux hood pins. I absolutely hate the look of kit pins, they look so fake and in my opinion stick out and take away from the model. Just my opinion though.

I sand off, or fill and smooth and use the powerslide foil faux pins. I too think the kit pins are ugly. I don’t enjoy using PE on every single build, but that is simply how I feel about it.
The best part about building models is doing what works for you, skill level, detail , clear coat. Build for you and enjoy it.

I've used PE plates/pins and the cable that they include, but I don'y bother drilling posts through the panel, which can look out of scale.

This. I've seen quite a few builds that were executed perfectly EXCEPT for the somewhat too large appearing sewing needle heads.

I use the Detail Master 1/24th scuff plates as the 1/25th looks just a little small, even on a 1/25th model. I super-glue the plate down, then drop the pin down across it, catching a little of the super-glue that oozes up slightly thru the holes in the plate. I then take the lanyard wire and loop it once around a 3/16th drill bit or something similar to give me a scale-looking size loop. I twist the wire up to the drill bit like a bread tie then snip the twisted tail off leaving just enough twist to hold it from popping apart. Then you just slide it off the bit and super-glue the twisted end to the scuff plate. You can elongate the loops to varying degrees and place them oriented slightly different to give it a more "random" effect.

I just ordered a whole bunch more of the Pro Tech hood pins. Not perfect, but pretty darn close.

I agree aftermarket pins are the best option but if you sand down the kit pins so they don't stickup and add a retaining wire they look much better.

Oh yeah, those are nicer than anything I've seen. What's your source if I may ask?

They are the pins from the kit modified as I described.

I have used thin aluminum cut from a soda can for the protection plates when they are not a standard shape.

I use bits of wire for the studs.
